Winter Holiday 2019
Hello friends,
This year has come full circle, gently meandering through late fall and toe-tipping into the next season. Winter is a two-part performance: the first act is the merry holiday-making, and after a brief intermission, settles into the second act – a quiet hibernation while life regroups before the burst of spring.
Anticipating the winter holidays is a cheery gift in life’s stocking, full of wonder and excitement. We all become children again, giddy with happy memories and sweet traditions. It’s a time of family and friends, laughter and indulgence, a reminder of all the things we hold most dear.
Once we toot our last New Year horn and put away our party hats, winter gives us another gift. Cold wind and weather shoo us indoors, inviting us to slow down and snuggle in the warmth of cozy comfort. There is a deep silence, maybe muffled by snow, when moments of peace and stillness remind us to breathe, to take in the moment, and realize everything is perfect, just the way it is.
Clear winter night skies glitter with infinite stars and a sense of wonder. Star struck by winter’s beauty, I’ve been inspired to create some smashing new scents for the soap menu, along with a couple of long-time favorites. ‘Tis the season to load up on all the goodies. How nice it is to have a little stash of treats on the shelf waiting for you, or to share something you love with a friend. ($5.00 each)
Vanilla Wood – A rich, warm, blend of deep, dark vanilla bourbon with soft golden teak and sandalwood. This fragrance is in the Frankincense family, but smoother, creamier, and truly elegantly gorgeous. The color is a light walnut brown, tinged with real vanilla bean powder.
Cinna-Mint – Peppermint candy cane and cinnamon red hots – that whole opposites attract thing? So, so good. This is an irresistible scent - icy cool plus spicy sweet, so delicious and so fun for a holiday soap. The color is a deep indigo blue shade, made with natural indigo plant dye.
Flannel Jammies – A perennial winter seasonal favorite, this soap has an actual soapy scent (imagine that!) with the scent of clean cotton still warm from the dryer. Snuggling up in a pair of soft flannel jam-jams is one of those most-loved comforts of winter nobody can resist. This bar is ivory white, silky smooth, and a fun little something to tuck into Christmas stockings or to pamper your favorite hostess with.
Balsam & Cedar – Fresh evergreens of balsam, spruce, juniper, and fir, blended with warm, woodsy cedar. Colored with nettle powder, it’s a gorgeous dark green. This is a heavenly forest scent - imagine being deep in the woods on a wintry day. Bring the clean, pure, freshness of the outdoors into your shower.
HOLIDAY SPICE HOME FRAGRANCE SPRAY
The Holiday Spice aromatic spray is our own little holiday tradition around here. It’s just not the holidays without it. We spritz around the house just before guests arrive, and they all coo about how great the place smells. Crackerjack Crafts in the Wallingford Center is now carrying Soapworks Studio soaps. Hooray! There is finally a retail shop in Seattle where you can stop by to sniff the latest seasonal soaps up close and in person. Filled with all local artisans and gorgeous handmade creations, you may do all your holiday shopping in one place.
