Summahtime!

Hello favorite people!

We just wrapped up the long weekend, the first official holiday, and the kick-off for what we affectionately call the summer season. The few short months of sweaty pits weather, sizzling grills, toasty car seats and hot sunburns. Kidding! Who doesn't love summer?! We've been waiting all year for this.

Keeping it short and sweet: can't-live-without-them summer soaps have arrived. Bugger Off spray is a necessity right now. Shea Butter Balm is back in stock too.Hello favorite people!

SUMMER SEASONAL SOAPS

Heat waves are going to be in fashion again this year - not in a good way. Like those 70's high waisted bell bottoms that keep coming back and never looked good on anyone ever. As the weather heats up, you're probably thinking about cooling off. And maybe taking extra showers too? Our fresh new summer soap scents would love to join you in the shower -- spa-like Beach House, crisp Cucumber + Mint, sweet and juicy Watermelon Sugar, or fresh picked Tomato Basil. Sudsing up with any of these lovelies will make the chilling a lot more fun. They're here for just a few months (through August). You'll be sad (and scratchy) if you end up showering with something drab and uninspired like grocery store soap.

Grab one of my special Sunflower Fields soap too! The lovely chamomile and meadow grass scented soap donates all the profits to humanitarian relief for the Ukraine people (via Global Giving). It's easy to feel like it's hopeless, or we can't change anything on our own, or that there is nothing we can do that makes a difference. But numbers add up and the more people do even little things, the bigger the results. Plus doing something - more than hoping and praying - actually feels good.

DON'T FORGET THE BUGGER OFF SPRAY!

With warm evenings and outdoor shindigs, there's bound to be bugs. Yep, those pesky mosquitos are already buzzing.

Most insect repellants are loaded with toxic chemicals, including the pesticide DEET, which is so poisonous that the EPA says you should wash it off your skin when you return indoors, avoid breathing it in, and not spray it directly on your face.

Fortunately it's not that hard to keep the pests away in a safer, more natural way. Bugger Off to the rescue! It's my essential oil blend of bug repellant spray and it's gotten rave reviews for years. This is now a staple on the menu, not just a seasonal product, so no matter where you live, if the bugs are out, we've got you covered.

It's a 100% natural essential oil blend of cedar, orange, eucalyptus and bay leaf in a water based spritzer. It works best if you can spray your clothes and hair a bit, because the scent will last longer on you. Clean and woodsy smelling, it won't repel the people you're hanging with either - just the bugs. Works great on mosquitos, fleas too. Safe for the whole family - kids and dogs too! ($7.95 / 4 oz bottle)

SHEA BUTTER BALM IS BACK BABY!

If you need an amazing, skin softening, protective moisturizer that doesn't just slide off in the heat - and who doesn't, really? - then this little tin of miracle butter is for you. Summer is skin show-off season and you want to look and feel your best. Made with incredibly silky and nutritive Nilotica Shea Butter, it's creamy dreamy, with a fresh new batch waiting on the shelves for you.

What are your favorite things about summer? Hip hip hooray for flip flops and road trips, beach bumming and pool floating . . . it's a blank slate of fun in the sun and we're here for it.

Heidi

It was a quiet morning, the town covered over with darkness and at ease in bed. Summer gathered in the weather, the wind had the proper touch, the breathing of the world was long and warm and slow. You had only to rise, lean from your window, and know that this indeed was the first real time of freedom and living, this was the first morning of summer.
